2009 Series of UnForm Training Webinars to be Offered Beginning the Week of
April 1st

SDSI is putting the final touches on its 2009 series of hour-long training
webinars covering a wide range of topics for technical integrators.
The cost for each session will be $175 for SDSI end-users. SDSI end-users with a
maintenance agreement will receive a 20% discount. Active resellers can attend
the webinars at no charge. The plan is to offer the sessions on a
quarterly basis.
The series will feature 12 sessions grouped under three major headings:
Basic operations ... 4
sessions
- each covers a different topic: Server installation,
set-up and
configuration; the Command-line API;
Trouble-shooting techniques; the Design Tool
Rule-File ... 5 sessions
- each covers a distinct category or range
of rule-file commands or functions,
including samples, from introductory to advanced,
featuring a new approach to conceptualizing
command groups for easier learning
Document Management ... 3 sessions
- covering rule-set archiving and browser
retrieval, image manager operation, and
image manager job definitions and VB script.

NEW LEARNING RESOURCE
FREE
10-minute "Get-Started with UnForm" Recorded Webinars
Available March 1st
SDSI will be making available a series of
10-minute recorded webinars in Windows Media
format for people who want to watch and learn
the steps involved in configuring and testing
UnForm.
The first 5 of the initial 8-part
"Get-Started" series will be formally announced
and available March 1st.
The first 5
recordings walk through the process of
downloading, installing and configuring UnForm
on a Windows workstation, TCP/IP printing,
generating pdf samples, including demonstration
of new email, fax, desktop delivery and archive
samples.
Following shortly after the release
of the first five, we'll announce the
availablity of sessions 6 through 8, which will
offer a more detailed view of Archiving, Image
Manager, and the UnForm Design Tool.
The
sessions are geared towards integrators who are
just getting started with UnForm, which we
expect will include both new and prospective
resellers and end-users, as well as new staff
members of existing resellers and end-users.

UnForm 8.0
Development Progress
Development staff are reporting significant
progress on the next major release of Unform.
Major 8.0 features developed so far:
- Truetype font embedding for pdf, pcl,
and postscript output
- Unicode text output, when using truetype
fonts
- Unicode characters as images, to save
the overhead of embedded font files
- PDF transparency and 128-bit security
- XML reader object for parsing XML data
- HTTP client object for interacting with
web servers
- Address book object for managing email
and fax information
- Deliver command that handles email, fax,
and logging, of documents in a batch
- Cover page generation
- Multiple archive commands in a single
rule-set
The above list mainly covers base package
enhancements already completed. Stay tuned for
additional feature announcements, including
improvements and enhancements in the document
archiving and image manager components.
The Beta release of version 8.0 is
tentatively scheduled to coincide with an
upcoming technical conference being considered
for September.

SDSI Technical Conference Being Eyed

Keep an eye out for the formal announcement of
the details of this year's technical conference
tentatively planned for September in the
Sacramento area. A big focus this year will be
the release of UnForm 8.0, as well as the
continuing evolution of our document management
solution components and features.
