NEW SAMPLE RULE-FILE LEARNING RESOURCES
A series of new sample rule-files have been added
to the UnForm 8.0 samples folder that demonstrate specific features of
UnForm rule sets, supplementing the already extensive
list of samples provided with UnForm. Included also are a number of "Tool"
rule-sets that integrators can use to add specific common features to other
rule-sets, like page x of y, display copy title, etc. See the "Additional
Sample Rule Files" section in the unform80.pdf file. Feel free to contact us
about additional samples you'd like to see included.
Infor ERP FACTS 7.7
As we go to press with this article work is underway on the new FACTS 7.7
rule file using the UnForm 8.0 release. Availability is expected to be in
March 2010 with the general release of 7.7 by Infor.

Infor SXe
UnForm v7.x:
The current version of the standard SXe rule file is contained in the
eSXe_v71-1.zip file on the application integration page referenced below.
This includes the integration of the eDeliver (fax and email) and eArchive
rule sets. This also now includes all the "form 3" style rule sets, which
should be of special interest to users wishing to convert off a competing
laser forms and fax/email product. The new rule set download includes
documentation, and a demo of the system can be run with no rule set
modifications.
In December 2008 we added new rule-sets for the Bill of Lading form, and for
income statement and balance sheet reports.
Also in late 2008 we added support for Windows form 3-style eDelivery and
report emailing when SXe has hooks to "Blat" scripts.
UnForm v8.0:
The UnForm 8.0 upgrade of the Standard SXE rule-files will be
available for download in March. This version includes a
retooling and simplification of eDeliver logic to use the new 8.0 DELIVER
command and other new rule-set address retrieval functions. Before upgrading
an existing installation that is using the v71-1 eDeliver methods, please
contact UnForm support to discuss your upgrade plan.

Takestock
This product has the earliest level of eDeliver and eArchive
rule-set functionality. If you are using these rule-files, please inquire
about reconfiguring for a more current release of eDeliver
... eDeliver80 integration pending.

Coming soon: UnForm for Counterpoint SQL
UnForm 8.0's new support for Application Formatted Output (AFO) enables
modern
applications like CP-SQL and many others to drive UnForm. Previously, UnForm
only supported raw text output streams from applications. Full announcement

SDSI eDeliver v7* and Prior "Sunset" Announcement
Effective immediately SDSI will stop updating and begin
phasing out support for the v7 and prior eDeliver rule files.
Please contact SDSI support to discuss upgrading to UnForm 8.0 with its new
eDeliver80.rul file which greatly simplifies the
configuration for emailing and faxing using the new 8.0 DELIVER command and
related features and functions, including the new Address Book features.

eArchive v7* rule-file and Recommended Changes
With the release of UnForm 8.0 we will be recommending a move away from the
v7 "eArchive" style of merging rule-files and rule-sets for archiving logic
added to existing enhancement rule-sets.
This is mainly to move to a structure employing code-block switch/case
functionality in a single rule-set to facilitate mass archiving property
changes when required down the road by an end user. Most frequently this
type of mass change is desired to retool the document category structure for
drill-down access, and involves updating properties on many or all document
types in a library or libraries in addition to new rule-set logic for
document generation moving forward.
The UnForm 8.0 sample file "arcdemo.rul" implements an example of these
concepts, and both the 8.0 Document Management and the 8.0 Objects webinars
in April and May 2010 will discuss the concepts and the sample.
It is expected that the links to download v7* eArchive files and
documentation will be removed soon.
