UNFORM 7:
a complete
Document Management Solution
MEMO TO CHANNEL PARTNERS AND END-USERS:
IT'S NOT JUST A LASER FORMS PACKAGE ANYMORE !
UnForm has evolved over the course of more than a
decade from a laser forms enhancement tools into to a complete document
management solution. UnForm 7.0, released in August 2006, introduced two
new components: the UnForm Archiving and Document Management component,
and the UnForm Image Manager/Scanning Tool component. These new
components integrate with UnForm and its base technology, which includes
laser, pdf, email and fax delivery functions, in such a way that UnForm
now squarely positions itself in the broader marketplace for integrated
document management solutions.
We are excited here at SDSI as we experience the
growth that follows from new products to offer and a business model that
emphasizes the channel partner as an integral part of successful product
positioning in the marketplace. We have seen many resellers,
integrators, and large direct end-users embracing our new technology
with a vision for the impact it's going to have on the efficiency
equations of their own or their client corporations.
We have been busy this last year in many endeavors
related directly and indirectly to this new focus on documents as a
critical business entity to be managed. Much work has gone into what are
essentially educational endeavors, preparing and laying out ideas,
materials, demonstrations, RESOURCES, and communicating them to our customers
and prospects in a way that shares the vision we have for UnForm's
ability to fuel efficiency improvements, and leading to increased penetration of the markets where our
channel partners operate.
A document management solution is a software system
that captures, stores, delivers, manages, and preserves electronic
documents. With the addition of its new components UnForm 7.0 does all
that. UnForm is software that requires a developer or integrator to
interface its components with other software that actually produces the
information which makes up the document, like accounting and ERP
software packages.
Our business model has always been one that favors the
channel partner for the efforts involved in providing quality solutions
to a diverse clientele or industry. Our price-to-features ratio is one
of our strongest suits because it allows our channel partners and direct
end users to build long-term, scalable technology solutions for a price
that is fair and competitive, and we back that with unparalleled support
and responsiveness.
We challenge all of our channel partners and end-users
to come share the vision we have for leveraging more than a decade of
technology evolution as we look for growth and application of our
technology in new but logically related arenas. The end-users of UnForm
are going to benefit with the efficiency improvements generated by
higher output or productivity on a lower investment base. And the
developers, resellers and integrators who help take them there are going
to solidify their own position as professional and capable software
providers.

ARCHIVING WEBINARS 2007
The best way to get educated FAST on
all the facets of the new document archiving & management, and image
manager components, is to attend the free four-part
webinar series devoted specifically to archiving.
We have presented these webinars in two different
formats: in a one-per-day four-successive days format, and more
recently, as a single full-day presentation of all four webinars.
Note the NewsPages front page item for the
full-day July 31, 2007 session covering all four sessions.
Below are a few of slides from the webinar to
help you get a sense of what's covered.
This is the topic outline intro slide for the four-session
archiving webinars.
This is also an introductory slide from session 1 of
the archiving webinars. It is a simple graphic depiction of the UnForm
7.0 client-server architecture construct. The "gold" boxes show the new
archiving and image manager components. This helps outline and set the
stage for everything that follows in the webinars.
The below graphic from session 3 of the archiving
webinars shows the task flow that would be typically followed in
processing scanned or imported images through the image manager/scanning
tool for uploading of "external" documents to the archives.
The property
assignment focus of the scanning tool emphasizes automated barcode or
OCR zone recognition, but with extensibility via VB SCRIPT, and access
to user input dialogues and ODBC or other Windows resources support the
integrator in designing efficiency-oriented batch capture solutions.
Another important concept covered in the webinars is the relationships
which can be created between documents, so that work-flow efficiency
improvements can be realized on the part of the end-user.
