dSERVE Has Been Discontinued
Please note that sales and support of dSERVE was discontinued in 2014.
Support to existing customers is limited and billable. We encourage a migration
to ODBC or similar technologies available through Basis and PxPlus for their
respective platforms. Under limited circumstances, we will consider licensing
the dSERVE source code. If this interests you, please contact us.
The following information is provided for historical reference.
Click the appropriate link to download an evaluation version of
dSERVE
TM.
dSERVE software is available for both Unix and Windows. Both PRO/5 and ProvideX
versions are included; the environment is selected after install. Download
the desired server software, and if you will be doing Windows client programming,
download the dSERVE COM software as well.
Trial versions randomly place *Demo strings in place of text as records are
returned.
Important: PRO/5 users must have a PRO/5 revision 2.2 or higher in
order to run dSERVE. If you have a previous release of BBx, you can obtain
a stand-alone, 1-user license from BASIS.
Instructions
Unix:
- Choose/Create a directory to store dSERVE.
- Place the download file in the directory.
- Uncompress the file: uncompress filename
- Unextract the file: tar xvf filename
- Run ./dsetup.sh and enter the directory location of PRO/5 or ProvideX.
- To start the server, run ds20d start. To stop, ds20d stop.
- Read the readme.txt file for current information.
- The server manual is dserve20.pdf.
Windows:
- Run the download installer executable.
- Once the installation is done, run dSERVE Setup from the Start/Programs/dSERVE 2.0 Server menu.
This will prompt for the location of the Visual PRO/5 or ProvideX executable.
- To start the server, run the dSERVE Status Monitor and press the Start button.
The server can also be installed as a service, in which case it will automatically
start when the system is booted, and must be started/stopped from the Control Panel
Services applet.

single machine for each license purchased.
dServe 2.0 Server Downloads
If you have ProvideX or PRO/5 revision 2.2 or higher, then you should download
a standard version of dSERVE. This installation will operate with your current
Business Basic executable.
If you do not have PRO/5 2.2 or higher, then you can purchase a 1- or 2-user
version from Basis International or your reseller to operate dServe, or
you can simply upgrade your PRO/5 installation.
