sdOffice will run in demo mode until licensed. In demo mode, all
functionality is included, but random characters are replaced with
asterisk characters as data is read and written.
Installation Notes
Windows Installation Note
When installing on a
Windows 2003 server, or any other server with Terminal Services
installed, you must be logged in as a primary administrator and
use Control Panel Add/Remove
Programs to perform the installations.
Important Notice:
Server version 2.0.08, released September 22, 2009, requires Office client
build 2.0.56, released on the same date.
Server Installation Instructions
Unix:
As the root user:
- Choose/Create a directory to store the sdOffice server software.
- Place the download file in the directory.
- Uncompress the file: uncompress filename (it must end in upper-case .Z - rename if necessary)
- Unextract the file: tar xvf filename
- Read the readme.txt file for current information.
- Execute ./sdsetup.sh.
- Execute ./license.sh. Select option 3 if you have Internet
access from your machine. If not, visit the
http://synergetic-data.com/sd2lic.cgi link to obtain a 30-day
trial period activation key, and enter it using license.sh, option 7.
- Start the server by running sdo20d start
- Check the top of the log file, sdo20d.log, for a line indicating a process is listening on client and app ports.
Windows 2000 and up:
- Execute the download file to install sdOffice. If installing on a system
that supports Terminal Services, such as Windows Server 2003, run the download
file via Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, while logged in as an administrator.
- The Start-Programs menu will have a new folder, sdOffice 2.0 Server
- Run the Server Manager.
- Click the Licensing button, then click the Automatic Demo Activation.
If you do not have Internet access, visit the
http:synergetic-data.com/sd2lic.cgi link to obtain a 30-day
trial period activation key, and enter in the form.
- Use the Configure button to set configuration parameters.
- Run the Server Manager, and click the Start button to start the sdOffice
server. If you wish to install the sdOffice server as a Windows service,
you can do so from the Configuration window or the Start menu. Note, we do not recommend
running sdOffice as a service until it has been activated and tested.
- Start the server, using the Start button, or the Windows Control Panel services manager if it is installed as a service.
- Check the top of the log in the server manager for a line indicating a process is listening on client and app ports.

sdOffice 2.0 Downloads
Download both a Network Server and a Windows Office Client. The Network server
is installed where your application runs, on Unix, Linux, or Windows. The Office Client can be installed
on any Windows 2000 and up PC on your network.
See the manual, sdofc20.pdf, for more details about the new architecture, as it is very different from
sdOffice 1.0.

Zip of just sdofc.exe, small zip
file of the latest sdofc.exe executable to patch existing installs. The software is
normally installed in the c:\program files\sdsi\sdoffice directory.
Note that to update your installation from a release prior to 1.0.03 to
1.0.03 or higher, you must perform a complete install rather than just
an update to sdofc.exe.
